Congratulations to the 2013 Founding Values Award Winners!
By Lee Broughton
Our values are more than a plaque on the wall – they play a critical role in the way we manage our company. And each year, we bestow a very special honor on the operating groups across our company that do an exemplary job of living our core beliefs in the way they do business.
Learn about each area of our Cultural Compass here.
We call this honor the Jack Taylor Founding Values Award. And in a little more than a decade, it’s gone beyond being just an award – it’s become a management discipline. Named for Enterprise’s founder, this annual competition is actually a strategic management initiative that challenges our senior managers and their teams to integrate our company’s core values into their business planning and operations. Since the program launched, it has driven thousands of best practices, operating enhancements and new partnerships across our company.
We firmly believe there is a direct correlation between operating sustainably and long-term growth and profitability. As a result, Enterprise Holdings’ operating groups submit entries every year that outline their respective goals, action plans and results around the six points of what we call our Cultural Compass.
This year a record 22 groups – from Central Canada to South Florida, Atlanta to Oregon – received the 2013 Founding Values Award:
I want to take a moment to recognize them for their achievement – they’re the best of the best when it comes to fostering sustainable business practices and executing values-driven strategies. All of these winners also received $20,000 to put to good use with non-profits in their local communities, because, as we make our communities and the world better, it makes our business better.
We thank these groups for setting such a fine example and congratulate them on their success.
Every year, our employees help give back to the home towns and communities where we operate. In fact, they drive a whopping 75 percent of contributions from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, our charitable arm.
